The Next Generation Telescopes Science Institute (NEXSI) is a new astrophysics science institute at the University of California Santa Cruz. The purpose of NEXSI is to provide an intellectual framework and tools for maximizing the scientific return from a host of next generation large facilities through "strategic theory". NEXSI promotes and supports research in cosmology, galactic and extragalactic astronomy, star and planetary formation, across four UCSC departments: Astronomy, Physics, Earth and Planetary Sciences, and Applied Mathematics and Statistics.
